Barack Obama
Let me preface this post by saying that it was actually written back in November and I never published it because it wasn’t finished, but I will continue my thoughts in another post now that Barack has been sworn in….NATHAN…![]()

Ok, so by now everybody knows that Barack Obama is going to be the next president. It is a bittersweet moment for me. First of all, I did not think that I would see a black president until I was a very old lady, so I am extremely glad that our country is finally at a place where it can look beyond a person’s skin color, sort of, and elect a mostly black dude president.
I say mostly because he is, after all, half white which doesn’t mean a whole lot except that he is more of a caramel color than a dark chocolate, because we all know that if one is but 1/16 black then…OK I digress.
Warning:I have a feeling that this post is going to go all over the place, so if you can hang with it AND understand where I am coming from-kudos to you!
Anyhoo, I am a pretty socially conservative gal. I don’t believe in abortion, I believe that marriage is a religious institution and has always been and should always be between a man and woman, oh and I believe that Jesus is God. But that’s neither here nor there.
Anyway, as I was saying, since I am a pretty conservative gal, one would imagine that I would have a problem with a guy who has been called the most liberal senator EVER. The problem with that is that Obama is a man who, like Oprah, has redefined Christianity to suit his taste and who I wonder will be able to accomplish anything meaningful.
Thanks for the update.
I’m sad that Larry Elder is off the air now. I enjoyed hearing the perspective of a black man whose beliefs went against those of a majority of his race.
My hope for Obama is that he doesn’t do anything that can permanently damage the country. I have little faith in Republicans or Democrats alike to cut spending and stop bailing out everyone and their mother…but please Obama, stay away from things like social security and Roe v Wade that have had permanent impacts on our country.
