Repulican National Committee Chooses First Black Chairman

Posted by Cece On January - 31 - 2009

OK, so, now that the democrats have elected a black man as  POTUS, the Republicans want to jump on the band wagon and appear progressive too?  Don’t get me wrong, I naturally am much more on board with the Republican Party platform than the Democratic Party platform, but this looks to me like someone just feels left out of the party.  Republicans are going to have to be leaders, not followers if they are to succeed.

At least they didn’t choose the guy who sent out the CD with “Barack the Magic Negro” on it–Idiot.

Strike 1

Arrrrrrgh…why do I have to pay for other countries who want to abort their children?

The excerpt below was taken from Yahoo news http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090123/ap_on_go_pr_wh/obama_abortion_ban

WASHINGTON – In a long-expected move, President Barack Obama plans to sign an executive order ending the ban on federal funds for international groups that perform abortions or provide information on the option, officials told The Associated Press on Friday.

Liberal groups welcomed the decision while abortion rights foes criticized the president. Known as the “Mexico City policy,” the ban has been reinstated and then reversed by Republican and Democratic presidents since GOP President Ronald Reagan established it in 1984. President Bill Clinton ended the ban in 1993, but President George W. Bush re-instituted it in 2001 as one of his first acts in office.

The policy bans U.S. taxpayer money, usually in the form of U.S. Agency for International Development funds, from going to international family planning groups that either offer abortions or provide information, counseling or referrals about abortion. It is also known as the “global gag rule,” because it prohibits taxpayer funding for groups that lobby to legalize abortion or promote it as a family planning method.

Barack Obama

Let me preface this post by saying that it was actually written back in November and I never published it because it wasn’t finished, but I will continue my thoughts in another post now that Barack has been sworn in….NATHAN…
——————————————————————————————

Ok, so by now everybody knows that Barack Obama is going to be the next president.  It is a bittersweet moment for me.  First of all, I did not think that I would see a black president until I was a very old lady, so I am extremely glad that our country is finally at a place where it can look beyond  a person’s skin color, sort of, and elect a mostly black dude president.  :-) I say mostly because he is, after all, half white which doesn’t mean a whole lot except that he is more of a caramel color than a dark chocolate, because we all know that if one is but 1/16 black then…OK I digress.

Warning:I have a feeling that this post is going to go all over the place, so if you can hang with it AND understand where I am coming from-kudos to you!

Anyhoo, I am a pretty socially conservative gal.  I don’t believe in abortion, I believe that marriage is a religious institution and has always been and should always be between a man and woman, oh and I believe that Jesus is God.  But that’s neither here nor there.

Anyway, as I was saying, since I am a pretty conservative gal, one would imagine that I would have a problem with a guy who has been called the most liberal senator EVER.  The problem with that is that Obama is a man who, like Oprah, has redefined Christianity to suit his taste and who I wonder will be able to accomplish anything meaningful.

Thoughts on the Upcoming Election…
